terms --scope website-only
Terms of use
These cover using this website. They are not the terms of an engagement — those live in the engagement letter you sign, and nothing here overrides it.
Who you are dealing with
This site is operated by IN-SEC PTY LTD, an Australian company. You can reach us at enquiries@in-sec.org.
What this site is, and is not
Everything here is general information about the work we do. It is not advice about your business, your legal obligations, your insurance, or your tax position, and it is not a substitute for someone looking at your actual circumstances. Do not act on it as though it were.
That applies with particular force to anything on this site about the ransomware payment reporting rules. We explain what the rule says and we link to the primary source. Whether it applies to your business is a question for your lawyer.
Accuracy
We take care to get this right. Every statistic on this site names its source and links to it, and every price is the real price. But security guidance, published research and the law all change, and a page written in September is not guaranteed to be current in March. Where a date matters, we state it.
If you find something on this site that is wrong, we would genuinely like to know. Tell us and we will fix it.
Prices
Prices shown on this site are in Australian dollars and are the standard prices for the work as described. What changes a price is scope — the size of the business, the number of entities, the complexity of the environment. Where that applies we say so on the page. A quote for your specific engagement is confirmed in writing before anything starts.
Using the site
Read it, share it, quote it with attribution. What we ask you not to do: attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, interfere with its availability for other people, or scrape it to build a competing service.
If you want to test this site’s security, we would rather you did it properly than quietly. There is a security.txt explaining what is in scope and how to report what you find. Report in good faith and we will not come after you.
Our material
The writing, design and code on this site belong to us. The frameworks we reference — the ASD Essential Eight, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, MITRE ATT&CK — belong to their respective owners, and we claim no affiliation with, endorsement by, or accreditation from any of them.
Links to other sites
We link to primary sources, mostly government ones, because a claim you can check is worth more than one you cannot. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they say or do.
Where we limit our liability
We provide this site as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from relying on general information published here rather than getting advice about your own situation.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where those rights apply, they apply regardless of what this page says.
Changes
We update these terms when something changes. The date below tells you when that last happened. We do not notify individually, so if this matters to you, check the date.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by Australian law. We have not yet named the specific State or Territory whose courts would hear a dispute — that will be added here once it is settled, rather than asserted now.
